Title Prompt: Earthbound
Dec. 23rd, 2018 10:42 amPost-Ragnarok. Thor sets their course for Earth. Loki, having just held Thor while he sobbed (because that’s what happened after “I’m here” in my head), knows he can’t leave yet, but he’s not going back to Earth. He calculates how many days he’s got until they’re near enough to Earth to make contact, and sets a plan during that time to first build Thor up and make his own expertise unnecessary (compiling books on magic, helping to structure a council that will support Thor, etc.), then tear himself down so that Thor doesn’t want him to stick around.
The plan doesn’t work out. Loki’s never been good at predicting emotional responses, especially his own. The dependence that Thor and him develop is unexpectedly deep and abiding.
Loki doesn’t know what to do. Every day they get closer to Earth. Every day another aspect of the plan gets delayed or altered due to unexpected developments. And he’s terrified. The closer they get to Earth, the closer they are to Thor abandoning him for others (the Avengers, Jane, etc.). To losing his freedom.
But does he talk about these fears with his brother-turned-lover? Why ever would Loki do that?
